The Houston Rockets are a professional basketball team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) based in Houston, Texas. The Houston Rockets compete in the Western Conference Southwest Division along with San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Dallas Mavericks. The Houston Rockets’ main rivalry is with the Dallas Mavericks, which is often referred to as the I-45 Rivalry because they are both on Interstate 45.

The Houston Rockets play their home matches at the Toyota Center in Houston, which opened in 2003. From 1975 the team played at The Summit, which has since become a church and is known as the Lakewood Church Central Campus. The team were originally known as the San Diego Rockets and played at the San Diego Sports Arena before moving to Houston in1971. Between 1971 – 1975 they played at the Hofheinz Pavilion. The Toyota Center has a capacity of 18,055, and was once the home of the American Hockey League’s Houston Aeros. The arena has also hosted many UFC and wrestling matches over the years and it hosted the 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in 2008. It has also housed many concerts from the likes of Prince, Christina Aguilera, Enqrique Iglasias, and in 2008 Metallica played to a record breaking 17,962 fans.
