The Boston Red Sox are a professional baseball team in Major League Baseball (MLB) based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Sox compete in the American League (AL) East division along with the Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees–Red Sox rivalry is one of the oldest, most famous and fiercest rivalries in professional sports. The team plays its home games at Fenway Park in Boston.
Fenway Park opened in 1912 making it the oldest ballpark in MLB. The ballpark is open-air, with a capacity of 37,755. Besides the Orioles it has also hosted major events such as Championship Boxing, European Soccer Exhibitions, numerous College Football games, the NHL Winter Classic and major concerts such as Lady Gaga, Phish and Pearl Jam.
