The Toronto Blue Jays are a professional baseball team in Major League Baseball (MLB) based in Toronto, Ontario. Making their home in Canada, they are currently the only team outside the United States. The Blue Jays compete in the American League (AL) East division along with the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. Outside their division, the Jays’ main rivals are the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners. The team plays its home games at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
The Rogers Centre opened in 1989 as the SkyDome. The ballpark has a retractable roof, with a capacity of 49,282. Besides the Blue Jays, it hosts a slew of major events such as NFL and College Football games, International and MLS soccer matches as well the CONCACAF Champions League, WrestleMania, and major concerts such as Guns N’ Roses, Bruce Springstein and The Rolling Stones.
