The Seattle Mariners are a professional baseball team in Major League Baseball (MLB) based in Seattle, Washington. The Mariners compete in the American League (AL) West division along with the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers. The team plays its home games at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

T-Mobile Park opened in 1999 as SafeCo Field. The stadium has a retractable roof and has a capacity of 47,929. Besides the Mariners, also hosts College Football’s Washington Huskies, has hosted the MLB All-Star game, International Soccer matches such as the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup, WrestleMania, major concerts including Zac Brown Band, Pearl Jam and the Foo Fighters.

Seattle has a very robust food scene. Seattle takes its seafood very seriously. You should of course see flying fish at Pike Place Market but there’s so much more to try. Shellfish is a Seattle staple, from the oysters to geoduck (pronounced “gooey duck”), a giant clam that sometimes confuses visitors. Try it at places like Lark in Capitol Hill, How to Cook a Wolf in Queen Anne, and Fremont’s Japanese soba shop Kamonegi. Pike Place Chowder has amazing, you guessed it, clam chowder. Be careful eating Salmon in Seattle – you may never want to eat it anywhere else again – hit up Piroshky Piroshky or Hiram M. Chittenden Locks. Make sure to look out for Seattle Dogs – they’re sold at stands everywhere. They’re hot dogs with a cream cheese topping. Sounds weird, but so delicious. And of course try coffee. Almost anywhere will be the best coffee you’ve ever had.
