One of the newest expansion teams in MLB, the Arizona Diamondbacks, or D-backs as their fans affectionately call them, are a Professional American Baseball team that play in the National League West Division. In only their fourth season as an expansion team, the Diamondbacks won their very first World Series Championship in 2001, beating the New York Yankees. They are currently the only men’s professional sports team representing Arizona, that have won a championship title. Since their debut in 1998, the Diamondbacks have won 5 NL West Division titles, 1 NL pennant, 1 Wild Card game, and the 2001 World Series Championship. The Giants, the Rockies, the Padres, the Pirates and of course the Yankees are always on the hunt for the Diamondbacks because of their early successes.
At their home in Phoenix Arizona, the Diamondbacks played their very first home game in the Chase Field Ballpark. The ballpark was the very first in the United States to have a retractable roof that covered a natural-grass playing field, which was then replaced in 2019 with synthetic turf. Mark Grace was the first player to hit a home run into the swimming pool that is located in right-center field. Guests can rent the suite and swimming pool that will accommodate 35 guests for only a few thousand dollars per game, and they will have a very unique game-watching experience.
Phoenix sometimes gets a bad rap for its food choices. Respectfully we’d have to disagree. If the sun doesn’t get you, these foods will make your mouth water. Try the Cochinita Pibil at Barrio Cafe, the Lamb (and heavenly bread) at Binkley’s, the ribs at Don & Charlie’s, the brisket at Little Miss BBQ and the The Pizza Margherita at Pizzeria Bianco.
