The San Diego Padres represent San Diego, California with pride and honor. They play in the National League West Division of Major League Baseball. The San Diego Padres are currently the only major professional sports league that is located in San Diego, California. The Padres have gone over 8,020 games without a no-hitter, that’s a major league record! The team was founded in 1969 and as of 2018, the San Diego Padres have had 14 winning seasons!

Located in downtown San Diego, PetCo Park opened in 2004 and is the home to the San Diego Padres. In the past, some people insisted that Petco Park was an “extreme pitcher’s park”. Because of this the Padres CEO, Sandy Alderson, used the 2005–06 offseason to make the ballpark more hitter-friendly, adjusting the dimensions in right-center field. You will hear a ship’s whistle (sound recording of the Navy’s USS Ronald Reagan) being blown whenever a Padres player hits a home run, and if the San Diego Padres win the game, fireworks are let off from center field. A 100-year old brick structure, the Western Metal Supply Company was going to be demolished for the new PetCo Park construction in 2003, but it was saved and the structure was incorporated into the overall design of the ballpark. The historic building now houses the San Diego Padres’ team store, a restaurant, rooftop seating, and private suites.
