The Indiana Pacers are a professional basketball team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) based in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Indiana Pacers compete in the Eastern Conference Central Division along with Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers. Between 1993 and 2000 the Indiana Pacers had a huge rivalry with the New York Knicks after meeting six times in the play-offs during this time.
Their home games are played at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Downtown Indianapolis. Prior to the arena’s opening in November 1999 the Indiana Pacers played their home games at the Market Square Arena which has since been demolished. The arena has a capacity of 17,923 when hosting basketball matches and is also the home of Women’s National Basketball Association team Indiana Fever. The arena has also been used to host Arena Football League’s Indiana Firebirds between 2001 and 2004, and Central Hockey League’s Indianapolis Ice between 1999 and 2004. Concerts are also hosted at the arena, and at March 2019’s Metallica concert a new attendance record was set with 18,274 people attending.
