The Charlotte Hornets are a professional basketball team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from Charlotte, North Carolina. They are in the Eastern Conference Southeast Division along with Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and Atlanta Hawks. Michael Jordan invested in the team in 2010 and owns a large percentage.
The Charlotte Hornets play their home games at the Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte. The arena was previously called the Charlotte Bobcats Arena when it opened in 2005, and the Time Warner Cable Arena. It changed its name to the Spectrum Center in 2016 when Charter Communications bought out Time Warner Cable. The arena has a capacity of 19,077 when hosting its basketball games and in 2014 was given the go-ahead for a $34 million renovation in time to host the 2017 NBA all-star game. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen but the arena did host the 2019 NBA all-star game instead. The arena is also used for a lot of college basketball matches due to the area’s major universities, and the Republican National Convention will be held here in 2020. The Spectrum Center has appeared on the TV show One Tree Hill, and was also used for American Idol auditions in 2012. You can also see many concerts at the Spectrum Center, from the likes of Phil Collins, Guns n’ Roses, and Disney on Ice.
The Queen City has many unforgettable cuisines. Some of our favorites include the Fried Quarter chicken plate at Price’s Chicken Coop, Salmon cakes at Mert’s Heart and Soul, Infamous calamari at Passion8, Beef burek at Intermezzo, Cheeseburger “All the Way” at Brooks’ Sandwich House & Chili and Sandwich #6 at Le’s Sandwiches & Cafe.
