The Miami Heat play their home games at the American Airlines Arena based in Downtown Miami which opened in 1999 with a special concert performed by Gloria Estefan. Prior to the arena’s opening they played their home home games at the Miami Arena, which has since been demolished and a parking lot now sits in its place. The arena has a capacity of 19,600 and has hosted other sporting events such as World Championship Wrestling and UFC matches. In 2020 the arena will also host the NFL Honors.
The American Airlines Arena is a place for concert-goers too, and has had many super stars perform here including Mariah Carey, U2, Lady Gaga, One Direction, Adele and many more. Most notably, in 2004, Britney Spears performed here with a live broadcast around the world.
Miami has a burgeoning food scene heavily inspired by Latin and Caribbean influences. Hot Restaurants include Swan and Bar Bevy and Fiola but there are also tons of staples such as La Camaronera, Rio Cristal, and Shorty’s which should not be missed
