The Denver Nuggets are a professional basketball team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) based in Denver, Colorado. The Denver Nuggets compete in the Western Conference Northwest Division along with Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves. The New York Knick’s are the Denver Nugget’s most notable rivals since 2006 when the Nuggets beat them with a blowout.
Their home games are played at the Pepsi Center in Denver which opened in 1999. Prior to this the Denver Nuggets played their home games at the McNichols Sports Arena which has since been demolished and replaced with a parking lot. The Pepsi Center has a capacity of 19,520 for its basketball games and is also home to the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche and the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth. There have been many different events hosted at the arena including four UFC matches, the International Convention and Contests of the Barbershop Harmony Society, and even the 2008 Democratic National Convention. There are also concerts hosted at the arena including the likes of Kiss, Carrie Underwood, Jonas Brothers, and The Who.
