The Sacramento Kings are a professional basketball team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) based in Sacramento, California. The Kings compete in the Western Conference Pacific Division along with Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Phoenix Suns. They’ve had a rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers that started in 1998 and climaxed when they mey in the 2002 Western Conference Finals.
The Sacramento Kings play their home games at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, which opened in 2016. The team originated from Rochester, New York, in 1923 and have had many different names and arenas over the years before becoming The Sacramento Kings. Their original name was the Rochester Seagrams, and have had names such as Rochester Pros, Cincinnati Royals and Kansas City Kings, and have called many places their home including Edgerton Park Arena, Cincinnati Gardens, Kansas City Municipal Auditorium and the Kemper Arena. Up until the Golden 1 Center they played at the Sleep Train Arena for 28 years. The Golden 1 Center has a capacity of 17,608 and has been known to host wrestling matches, UFC matches, and since 2017 has hosted the annual Built Ford Tough Series event for the Professional Bull Riders. There are also concerts performed at the arena including the likes of John Mayer, Post Malone and Jonas Brothers.
