The San Francisco 49ers are a professional American football team in the National Football League (NFL) based in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. The 49ers (or simply Niners) compete in the National Football Conference (NFC) West division along with the the Los Angeles Rams, the Arizona Cardinals, and the Seattle Seahawks. Outside of their division the 49ers rivalries include the Battle of the Bay rivalry with the Oakland Raiders as well as with the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons. The team plays its home games at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
Levi’s Stadium opened in 2014. The stadium is open air, with a capacity of 68,500. Besides the 49ers, Levi’s Stadium hosts the College Football Pac-12 Football Championship Game and has hosted the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Additionally it has hosted the Super Bowl, MLS games for the San Jose Earthquakes, International Soccer matches such as Copa América, CONCACAF Gold Cup, friendlies in preparation for the FIFA World Cup, and WrestleMania.
