The Anaheim Ducks are a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL) based in Anaheim, California. The Anaheim Ducks compete in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference along with Calgary Flames, San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights, Arizona Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings. The Anaheim Ducks have had a rivalry with the San Jose Sharks since the Ducks were established in 1993. They also have a rivalry with the Los Angeles Kings which is given the nickname the “Freeway Face-Off” because Interstate 5 can be used to travel between the two home arenas.

The Anaheim Ducks were founded by the Walt Disney Company, and were originally called the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim after the movie “The Mighty Ducks”. They were renamed the Anaheim Ducks after Disney sold the franchise in 2005.

The team play their home games at the Honda Center (originally called the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim) which has been the Ducks’ only home since it opened in 1993. When the arena was under construction it was known as the Anaheim Arena. The Honda Center has a capacity of 17,174 for its ice hockey matches and has been home to RHI/MLRH’s Anaheim Bullfrogs, CISL’s Anaheim Splash, NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, AFL’s Anaheim Piranhas, NLL’s Anaheim Storm, NCAA’s UCLA Bruins, and AFL’s Los Angeles Kiss. There have been many superstars play the arena over the years including Barbra Streisand, Janet Jackson, Santana, and Depeche Mode. No Doubt also recorded their “Live in the Tragic Kingdom” video here from two concerts in 1997.
