The Edmonton Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  The team was founded in 1971. The team changed its name to Alberta Oilers while playing in the 
World Hockey Association in 1972-73 season and then reverted back to Edmonton Oilers the following season. The Oilers joined the National Hockey League in 1979 following a merger of WHA and NHL. The team currently play in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL)

The Edmonton Oilers have had its share of hockey fights, but the most ferocious is the team’s rivalry with Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings. The standout rivalry of the lot is Edmonton Oilers’ rivalry with Calgary Flames famously dubbed ’The Battle of Alberta’.  The rivalry is one of the most celebrated in the annals of NHL.

Edmonton plays their homes games at Rogers Place which opened in 2016. Rogers Place is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in the city center of Edmonton with access to the city’s metro, light rail and bus service. Aside from being the Edmonton Oilers’ home, Rogers Place also host other sport like basketball and it has a purpose built concert ground that has hosted big tours like Elton John’s Fairwell Yellow Brick Road Tour, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ The Getaway Tour, Kanye West’s Saint Pablo Tour, Drake and Future’s Summer Sixteen Tour and others.
